Chronic Venous Insufficiency:
Blood vessels in the legs are often misunderstood. Although vessel disease can lead to varicosities and cosmetic concerns, they are more commonly a reason for back pain, hip pain, knee pain, leg pain, heaviness, cramps, restless legs and other symptoms. When left untreated, they can progress into a more serious condition called chronic insufficiency. With proper treatment, the progressive symptoms of vessel disease are preventable and curative. Without treatment, signs and symptoms may progress and significantly impact quality of life, and lead to increase symptoms.
Healthy leg vessels have valves that keep blood flowing to the heart. Vessel disease develops when the valves stop working properly and allow blood to flow backward (i.e, reflux) and pool in the lower leg vessels.
